Nose Art - Sierra Sue

Looking very much like a Vargas painting, Sierra Sue was likely based on the 1941 Black and White Western starring Gene Autry and featuring the song 'Sierra Sue' sung by Bing Crosbey.

This photo is from the Cameron Clare Campbell Collection, and supplied by Lloyd and Susan Campbell, Son and daughter-in-law of C.C.

The lyrics to Sierra Sue were performed by Bing Crosbey in the original 1941 film.

"Sierra Sue, I'm sad and lonely
The rocks and rills are lonely too
Sierra Sue, I want you only
No one but you, Sierra Sue
The roses weep, their tears are falling
The gentle doves no longer coo
Oh, can't you hear my sad heart calling
Calling for you, Sierra Sue"
